Monica Noriega, PsyD
Mónica Alejandra Noriega, Psy.D., is a Chicana, PhD, and community organizer from San Francisco, California. She believes that the sacred bonds between caregivers and their children are our most powerful tool for disrupting intergenerational trauma cycles and dismantling systems of oppression. Dr. Noriega works at the intersections of social justice, liberation psychology, perinatal mental health, and child mental health. As a professor in the Child Trauma Research Program at the University of California, San Francisco, Dr. Noriega specializes in the assessment and treatment of complex trauma among pregnant women and children ages 0-5. Dr. Noriega provides parent-child psychotherapy (CPP), perinatal parent-child psychotherapy (P-CPP), and child mental health consultation at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. Dr. Noriega also provides consultation and capacity building to social service and early childhood agencies. As a facilitator, Dr. Noriega aspires to create the conditions to facilitate collective healing at the system, community, and parent-child levels.
